A: Radio coverage 09:00 to 17:00 local time or sunset (whichever is earlier) every day. Island Airport Bistro is open from 11:00 to 17:00 Mon-Sun, weather permitting. Please note, no hot food is served after 15:00
Q: Do you have aviation fuel ?
A: Yes, we do. AVGAS 100LL Fuel is available on a self serve basis, utilising a credit/debit card based payment system. Please check our Fuel page for details

A: ‘Sandown Radio’ on frequency 119.275 MHz
Q: What radio service do you offer?
A: ‘Sandown Radio’ is an Air Ground Communication Service (AGCS) radio station. CAA UK Radiotelephony Manual (CAP 413) advises that an AGCS is a service provided from an aerodrome to give information to pilots of aircraft flying in the vicinity of the aerodrome by means of radio signals
Q: Do you have any noise abatement procedures?
A: Yes we do. We have very good neighbours and, for noise abatement reasons, departing traffic is requested to fly straight ahead for 1nm before turning on both runway 05 and runway 23
Q: Where do I book in and pay my landing fee?
A: After parking, please make your way to the top of the tower to book in and pay your landing fee
Q: Do you accept credit & debit cards for landing fee payments?
A: Sorry, we are not equipped to support card based payments in the tower. Please bring cash

Q: Can I fly in with a Microlight?
A: We welcome any type of single or twin GA aircraft, fixed or flex-winged microlights, gyrocopters etc. Please call the tower first on +44 (0) 1983 716926 for larger or other aircraft
Q: Do you have aircraft parking for overnight stays & for those with reduced mobility?
A: Yes, we do. Please call the tower first on +44 (0) 1983 716926 or over the radio upon your arrival. We have an excellent team of ground marshals who can assist with your aircraft parking needs
Q: Do you have any training facilites?
A: Yes, we have two training schools on the airfield. One teaching fixed wing microlights and one teaching flexwing. See our contact page for further details
Q: How do I get around once I have landed?
A: There are a number of transport options available if you would like to explore the Island. There is a bus stop at the end of the airfield access lane (bus number 8) Vectis bus timetable and local taxi companies pick up from the airfield. Walking to Sandown town with its long sandy beach & esplanade is possible (around 30 minutes). We also have a limited number of electric and standard bikes available to hire on a first-come-first-served basis- please contact us for details.
